Maya Hayuk

BIO

Maya Hayuk, based in Brooklyn, NY, is one of the most successful female urban artists. Together with Swoon she is one of the few women who contributed to the legendary Bowery Mural in New York City.

With symmetrical compositions, intricate patterns and radiant colours her works and huge murals adopt visual elements of their architectural surroundings and transform these into vivid woven geometries.

Her work reflects advanced technologies as well as traditional Ukrainian folklore. Maya Hayuk’s works interweave visual information about her environment with her delight in abstraction and colour and her interest in images from outer space and mandalas to create a captivating mixture.

Hayuk has had solo exhibitions and commissioned works at the Bowery Wall, NY (2014), the Hammer Museum, LA (2013), the Museum Of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada (2013), and the Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, Netherlands (2012), among others.

BIO
