Trash Can
Tilt, 110x75x30cm
BIO
Tilt is an international graffiti art celebrity from Toulouse, France. A self-proclaimed “graffiti fetishist”, he has developed his style in the streets and on the sides of trains.
His first tags, on skateboard ramps, are from 1988. Since then his style has developed further and now testifies to the influences he brought back from his numerous trips. His journeys allowed him to exhibit and leave his mark in almost 40 countries, including the United States, Japan, the Philippines, Senegal, China, New Zealand, Australia, and numerous European cities.
Tilt uses his practice to demonstrate that the original form of graffiti art can have the same strong impact as more complex or figurative compositions. He uses a clear formal vocabulary and pure colours to express his interpretation of classic graffiti art. His extensive use of rounded shapes comes from his obsession with the female body. In keeping with the codes of classic graffiti, writing his styled name, the “throw-up”, remains a principal element of his work.
Loyal to his origins, he continues to get pleasure from painting in the streets, a place where he will always feel free.
BIO
