Stefan Strumbel has succeeded in gaining the attention of the International Art Market, and his work has been shown in exhibitions and art fairs in Basel, Miami, Berlin, Hamburg, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Much of his work deals with the topic of “Heimat”, and related symbols of conventional traditions and value systems. He overpaints cult objects such as cuckoo clocks in gaudy colours and subtle texts, and presents them, pop art style, with elements of street art. As a result of his often provocative prints and sculptures on the topic of “Heimat”, the 34 year old artist has attracted a large fan and collector community in recent years. His works may be found in the collections of Karl Lagerfeld and Hubert Burda, among others.
Some of his greatest successes are the double page home story in the New York Times in 2010, the complete redesigning of a catholic church interior in July of 2011, and the comprehensive exhibition of his work at the Badische Landesmuseum Karlsruhe in 2012.
